Writing Workshop:
What Does It Mean To Be “Other”?
Those outside the heterosexual normative culture may, as a default, be seen as other, but who we are to ourselves is most important. Our identity may be hidden or expressed. It might morph and show up differently in different settings and situations. Sometimes being other can cause us to feel shame, but it can also mean living a big beautiful queer existence.
In this workshop, we’ll use poems by Queer poets as prompts for us to express our own sense of otherness: how does it show up? What does it bring to our lives? How do we best claim our otherness as a positive trait that gives us strength and joy?
