Why are checks made out to another organization? Great question! Checks are made out to Mockingbird because we are a fiscally sponsored organization. This means that we operate under the 501c3 status of another organization. This is a common arrangement for small nonprofits. As a result of this agreement, all donations are tax exempt and Mockingbird manages our nonprofit compliance, insurance, payroll, and bookkeeping. They also support us in grant acquisition and professional development! We pay Mockingbird 10% of our income for these services which is minimal compared to the overhead this would cost in-house. Learn more about Mockingbird here! If you have any questions about this arrangement, please don't hesitate to ask by emailing Celia info@methowpride.org.
What does sponsorship make possible?
Sponsorship helps us put on free events with guest speakers, mental health professionals, artists, community members and more! It supports big events like Pride Fest and Snowball as well as smaller regularly occurring events like Collage Nights, Potlucks, and Youth Afterschool Clubs!
How much money do I have to donate?
Any donation more than $10 on behalf of a business will allow you to become a business sponsor presented on our website and “Map of Methow Pride” flyer.
What could I give instead of money?
We invite “in-kind donations.” This may include prizes for trivia, swag for Pride Fest, materials for programs (i.e. art supplies, food, event space, books), gift cards or more! An in-kind donation will be considered a “Sparkle Sponsor.”
What does it mean to be an ally?
Your business must be committed to being a safe place for LGBTQIA+ individuals. This includes (1) listening to queer people and their experiences, (2) supporting staff in understanding gender identity and not assuming patrons identities, (3) alignment with Methow Pride’s value to ‘Lead with Love', (4) understanding that you do not have all the answers and reaching out to Methow Pride for guidance and support when questions arise.
What are the perks of being an ally?
As an ally, you demonstrate to LGBTQIA+ community members that they are seen and supported. You are prioritized as a vendor for Methow Pride sponsored and co-sponsored events. Larger donations include additional business spotlights for prominent events.
Queer-Owned Business
If you are a queer owned business, you qualify for the “Sparkle Sponsor” level without a donation. To identify yourself as a queer-owned business and consent to being listed as such on our website, fill out this form.
